Come
to the awe-inspiring Southern Oregon Coast for a Celebration of Cycling in
one of the world's most beautiful locales. Five
separate
fully supported routes with numerous rest stop/checkpoints. Ride beside
the Pacific Ocean, past cascading waterfalls, across historic bridges,
along the mighty Rogue River, and past miles of pristine beaches along the
way. Proceeds of the Festival benefit the Curry Health Foundation and
Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center.
The
courses are:
·
The Kiddie
Ice Cream Cruise, takes you down to the Port of Gold
Beach for an ice cream break and then back to the Curry County Fairgrounds.
This flat and fun 3-mile ride is designed for the youngsters, but face it,
it sounds like fun for grown-ups, too.
·
The 15-mile
River Route, which takes you along the lush south bank of the Rogue River to
a Riders' Rest Stop on Jerry's Flat Road before returning to the Fairgrounds. The
13-mile River Route is relatively
flat with a couple of rolling hills.
·
The 25-mile
Riverside Ramble, which takes you across the historic Isaac Lee
Patterson Bridge and then up the north bank of the Rogue River, and then
back down the south bank. The 25-mile Riverside Ramble boasts a few rolling hills with just enough
elevation gain to get your heart pumping. There are two Riders' Rest
Stops along this route.
· The 60-mile
South Coast Tour showcases three diverse ecoclimates that Oregon's
South Coast offers, taking the Riverside Ramble and adding in a loop through
picturesque Cedar Valley and the historic Old Coast Highway along the
Pacific Ocean. This beautiful ride sports a few rolling hills as well as three or
four short climbs. There are three Riders' Rest Stops on the South Coast
Tour.
·
The 100-mile
Coastal Challenge begins with a ride down US Coastal Highway 101 over Capes Sebastian and
Ferrello
returning through the quaint villages of Carpenterville and Pistol River
to lunch at the Curry County Fairgrounds. Riders then continue along the Rogue River, through
Cedar Valley, and back to the Fairgrounds on the historic Old Coast Highway
along the Pacific Ocean.
This route has five Riders' Rest Stops and boasts the most ambitious climbing with over 5000 feet of total
elevation gain.
Each road route has a separate starting time. The 60-mile
South Coast Tour and the 25-mile Riverside Ramble are timed so they will finish together. A nice family program would be for the more ambitious rider to
do the South Coast Tour and the other rider do the Riverside Ramble.
They could meet up at the Historic Isaac Lee Patterson Bridge and continue
on together.

well as the calmer conditions inland.
